Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of MentionOwl (the “Service”), operated at www.mentionowl.com. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you’re accepting on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind it.

1. The Service

MentionOwl monitors how AI platforms cite and mention websites you register, runs configurable queries against those platforms, scans the AI legibility of your site, and optionally counts visits via a tracking script. Features vary by plan as described on the pricing page.

2. Accounts

You must provide a valid email address and keep your credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 16 years old. One person or entity per account; site sharing is provided through the invitation feature.

3. Acceptable use

• Only monitor domains you own, operate, or are authorized to monitor on someone’s behalf;
• Only install the tracking script on websites you control, and disclose its use to your visitors where required by law;
• Don’t attempt to disrupt the Service, evade plan limits, probe or breach its security, or resell it without an agreement with us;
• Don’t use the Service to violate any law or third-party right.

We may suspend accounts that violate these rules.

4. Trials, plans, and billing

The paid trial costs $1 and runs for seven days on one domain. Payment details are required. When it ends, the monthly or annual plan selected at checkout begins automatically unless you cancel. Paid subscriptions are billed through Stripe, renew automatically, and can be cancelled any time through the billing portal — cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Except where required by law, fees are non-refundable.

5. Your content and data

You retain all rights to your websites and their content. You grant us the limited rights needed to operate the Service: crawling your public pages, storing and processing the results, and displaying them to you and the people you invite. We claim no ownership of your data, and our privacy policy governs how we handle it.

6. Third-party platforms

Monitoring results reflect responses from third-party AI platforms at the time of query. We don’t control those platforms, their answers, their availability, or their citation behavior, and we make no guarantee that monitoring will improve your visibility. Metrics are our good-faith measurement, not a promise of business outcomes.

7. Availability and support

We aim for high availability but the Service is provided without an uptime guarantee. We may modify features with reasonable notice for material changes. Support is provided by email at support@mentionowl.com.

8. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, brand, and documentation, is owned by MentionOwl and protected by law. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service while your account is in good standing.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MentionOwl will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or 50 USD if you paid nothing.

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, with notice where practicable. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including 5, 8, 9, 10, and 12) survive.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which MentionOwl is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing a claim, contact us — most disputes fit in one email.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. For material changes we’ll email account holders at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
